Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS)

AFIS

Bydgoszcz Airport in June 2019 received from the Civil Aviation Authority the Certificate for Air Navigation Services and since then has become a certified institution providing air navigation services in the field of AFIS (Aerodrome Flight Information Service) and MET.
The purpose of establishing the services is to ensure the safe and orderly flow of aircraft at the Bydgoszcz Airport, the availability of Air Navigation Services for all air traffic segments, with particular emphasis on General Aviation traffic, as well as the development of the Company.

    • The main task of the Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) is to provide flight information service and emergency service in the ATZ EPBY of Bydgoszcz aerodrome. AFIS operates outside of TWR EPBY operational hours - air traffic control services provided by PANSA (Polish Air Navigation Services Agency). This task is implemented by conducting continuous visual observation of the operational situation at the airport and in its vicinity, including the observation of aircraft, vehicles, machinery and equipment, people in the ground movement field and current meteorological conditions. This information is transmitted by radio to aircraft crews reporting in the ATZ and reporting their intention to move or maneuver in the airport's ground movement area. Operational cooperation with the sectoral FIS flight information service and TWR airport control service contributes to increasing safety and the efficient flow of air traffic at and around the airport. The AFIS service operates at a frequency of 131.005 MHz using the call sign Bydgoszcz Information.
    • The main task of the MET service is to provide meteorological protection for air traffic services (both for the TWR control service and the AFIS service) in the designated airspace and for the needs of the entire Bydgoszcz Airport. The tasks of providing meteorological cover are carried out by carrying out of meteorological measurements and observations, preparation of climatological dates, preparation of meteorological forecasts and warnings, informing about meteorological conditions, including meteorological flight documentation for aircraft crews.

Due to the will to constantly improve the quality of air navigation services, we provide the opportunity to contact their managers. Users of these services can send any complaints, comments, opinions and suggestions about their functioning to the following email address: zarzad@bzg.aero.
